NYCN flays Taraba government over killings

The National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, has condemned the spate of killing and wanton destruction of properties in the Ussa Local Government Area of Taraba State.

Describing the killings as extrajudicial, the group, through a statement made available to newsmen in Jalingo, the state capital, alleged that most of the victims are youths and women, including children.

The state chairman of the council, Prince Gara Soyonga Nongha, said the bandit attacks had been recurring in the area for some time, saying residents had been thrown into fear of imminent danger and many have fled their homes.

They urged the state government to go ahead and commission relevant security operatives for swift intervention, adding that it must work round the clock to ensure the killers are brought to book.

The council’s caretaker committee chairman, Abershi Musa, resigned on Wednesday over the incessant killings and destruction of properties.
