Lampard: I knew I’d return to Chelsea

Chelsea’s interim manager, Frank Lampard has said returning to the club was inevitable.

Lampard played 648 times for the Blues, scoring 211 goals to become their top scorer.

The 45-year-old then managed the team for 18 months before he was fired in January 2021 by Roman Abramovich.

However, the club’s new co-owner, Todd Boehly has brought back the former midfielder after Graham Potter was sacked on Sunday.

“I didn’t think I’d ever be in this seat. I’m a confident person, I work hard and understand the game. It wasn’t my thought I’d one day be back as Chelsea manager.

“In terms of unfinished business, I don’t see it like that. I look back on it with really good feelings.

“I’m here in a different era and want to do as well as I can,” Lampard told the media on Thursday.
