2026 World Cup: Argentina eliminate Egypt as seven teams qualify for quarter-final

‎Argentina have qualified for the quarter-final of the 2026 World Cup, following a thrilling 3-2 win over Egypt on Tuesday evening.


‎The current holders had to overcome a two-goal deficit, to continue their quest to retain the trophy.


‎The Pharoahs scored twice through Yasser Ibrahim and Mostafa Zico in either half to take control of the match, as Lionel Messi missed a penalty.


‎But Argentina found goals from Cristian Romero, Messi and Enzo Fernandez to move into the last eight.


‎Albiceleste will now face either Switzerland or Colombia next.


‎As it stands, three quarter-final fixtures have now been confirmed.


‎Belgium play Spain, England will face Norway, while France will take on Morocco.
