Police begin investigation into lynching of suspected armed robber in Ibadan

Oyo State Police Command says it has commenced investigations into the alleged killing of a suspected armed robber in Ibadan.

The police made this disclosure on Thursday.

Earlier reported that a suspected armed robber was on Wednesday lynched by some angry residents.

The suspected armed robber whose identity has not been revealed had also been accused of raping some of his female victims.

There were allegations that the lynched criminal had been terrorising some communities in Apete in Ido local government area.

Sources said one of the suspected robbers was caught in the early hours of Wednesday while on an operation in the Adagbada Arola area of Apete, he was thereafter beaten to death by angry residents.

Apete is a densely populated community in Ido local government area of the state.

The state police command has, however, said investigations into the matter have commenced.

Public Relations Officer of the police command, Adewale Osifeso made this revelation via a short message sent on Thursday.

Osifeso added that the investigation is in progress.

“Investigation is in progress.

“Updates would be provided accordingly, please”.
