Governor of Cross River State, Senator (Prince) Bassey Otu and former Senate Leader, Chief Victor Ndoma-Egba, SAN, have sent their felicitations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (PBAT) on his triumphant outing at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT).
The duo of Otu and Ndoma-Egba who are members of All Progressives Congress (APC), in separate remarks described the outcome of the presidential election tribunal as a well-merited victory for President Tinubu and a triumph of the people’s will as demonstrated at the presidential polls.
Otu noted that the verdict by the PEPT reinforces the overwhelming mandate Nigerians gave to President Tinubu at the 2023 polls and validates the judiciary as an impartial arbiter in electoral and other disputes.
In a report on his website, according to reports, said: “President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima’s victory at the Presidential Election Petition Court reinforces the overwhelming vote of confidence by Nigerians on February 25, 2023.
“This judgment, hopefully, should bring an end to further proceedings by the other political parties and their candidates and makes a demand of them to support your administration in resetting the economic and political trajectory of our great country.
“Also, Your Excellency, 100 days of your being in office has been marked by courage to take the much needed tough decisions, demonstrates resilience and commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“It is my expectation, and that of the Government and People of Cross River State, that you will continue to deliver on the mandate of our great party, the APC, in providing the much needed democratic dividend for all Nigerians.
“I assure you of my administration’s continued support and deeply appreciate your endearing love for Cross River State and look forward to its sustenance.
“Congratulations, Mr. President.”
Ndoma-Egba, a legal luminary who was the Secretary of the Campaign Planning Directorate of the defunct APC Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council, said the justices of the presidential election tribunal painstakingly took their time to deliver a judgement that is sound and unassailable.
The astute politician and one-time Chairman of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) urged the opposition members to accept the decision of the tribunal in good faith and allow the President to focus on governance for the benefit of the Nigerian people.
In his words, “The ruling of the Presidential Election Petition Court is a well-deserved victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and democracy. The justices were painstaking and put the issues beyond every doubt. I hope the other Parties will see the need to let the matter rest so that President Tinubu can focus on governance while the citizens rally for the dividends of democracy.”
