Earlier it was reported that security operatives were deployed to safeguard campaign posters and billboards of President Bola Tinubu in Kaduna ahead of his expected visit to the state on Saturday.
It was gathered that security operatives were stationed at strategic locations across the metropolis to prevent possible vandalism of campaign materials.
According to DailyTrust, personnel of the Kaduna State Traffic Law Enforcement Authority (KASTLEA) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were among those deployed to protect the posters and billboards, particularly along major roads leading to the Kaduna Township Stadium, the venue of the expected rally.
When contacted by Daily Trust for clarification on the reason for the deployment, the state government did not respond immediately. However, a security operative assigned to the duty said some personnel had been deployed to protect the campaign materials along the route from the Township Stadium area to Kawo.
“We were assigned alongside KASTLEA marshals to protect Tinubu’s billboards and posters from being vandalised before the campaign rally. Our duty is mostly at night because that is when the youths can carry out such acts,” he said.
