COEOSAN holds 14th National Delegate Conference, hails TetFund intervention projects

Delegates at the 14th National Delegate Conference of the Colleges of Education Old Students Association of Nigeria (COEOSAN) rose from their meeting at the FCT College of Education, Zuba, Abuja with a number of adopted laudable resolutions and remarks, prominent among which is the commendation of the Federal Government by the association for signing the dual mode bill into law, which allows colleges of education to run their own degree programs without affiliation to universities and at the same time continue to run the NCE programs.

The 2023 Delegate conference held under the leadership of the association’s President General, Comrade Shehu Salisu Rogo (Dallatun Rogo), while commending the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TetFund) for the massive developmental strides of projects recorded in the institutions across the country, noted that the story of poor infrastructure and lack of academic facilities that bedeviled the Nigerian colleges of education in the past would have still remained burning issues if the agency had not intervened.

While expressing the appreciation of the association to other donor agencies for their supportive roles in the development of colleges of education in Nigeria, Comrade Rogo further appealed for the inclusion of colleges of education staff in the distribution of palliatives by the Federal Government to cushion the effects of hardship brought by subsidy removal.

The association further appealed to all branches of the old students’ body nationwide to ensure the functional and effective administration of their respective branches that will strengthen the activities of the national body in order to achieve the overall objectives of alumni for the continued growth and development of institutions of colleges of education that will guarantee the delivery of quality education in the country.

In the address of the President General, Comrade Rogo, on behalf of members of his executive council, expressed the association’s appreciation and gratitude to the Management, Staff and students of the FCT College of Education, Zuba – Abuja for the provision of all the needed comforts and kind gesture for the successful hosting of the 2023 delegate conference.
