The Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Sen. Sunday Karimi, has stated that the recent developments in the Senate involving Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan have vindicated former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello.
Speaking to journalists in Lokoja, Karimi stated that, as an active participant in the National Assembly, he could now confidently say that Bello should not have been blamed for the allegations Akpoti-Uduaghan levelled against him before the National Assembly elections.
His comments follow the ongoing face-off between Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
“Former Governor Yahaya Bello must have seen it coming,” Karimi remarked.
He added that despite efforts by himself and other Kogi lawmakers to prevent any form of embarrassment to the state, their interventions were ignored.
Karimi recalled the political battles between Akpoti-Uduaghan and Bello before, during, and after the elections, insisting that recent Senate events have only proven Bello right.
“What is happening now in the Senate is a total mess and an embarrassment to the entire state,” Karimi lamented.
He further criticized Akpoti-Uduaghan for allegedly tarnishing Kogi’s reputation, adding that her actions in the Senate had extended the embarrassment to the entire nation.
“All our admonition to her fell on deaf ears. One can therefore come to terms with the fact that former Gov. Yahaya Bello saw it coming,” he said.
