The Eggon Cultural and Development Association (ECDA) Worldwide has urged Nigerians to shun violence and thuggery during and after the February and March general elections.
This, the association said, is in the interest of peace and for the overall development of the country.
Mr David Abuluya, the President of ECDA Worldwide, made the call on Tuesday in an interview during the burial of Mrs Abaka Andah.
Andah was the Mother to Dr David Andah, the Director, Legal Services/ Secretary, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), in Wakama, Nassarawa Eggon Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
Abuluya said that peace was key to the success of the 2023 general elections, hence, the need for Nigerians to embrace peace during and after the election.
He urged politicians not to encourage thuggery during the upcoming general elections.
“ECDA as umbrella body of the Eggon people worldwide will continue to preach peace and protect the lives of its members and others.
“We will ensure that lives and properties are not lost in Eggon land before, during and after the February and March elections,” he said.
Abuluya urged Eggon people and other Nigerians to vote for good leaders during the elections.
The ECDA president uenjoined its members and other Nigerians to continue to unite and embrace peace irrespective of their affiliations.
Besides, Abulaya condoled with the FRCN legal adviser over the death of his mother and prayed God to grant her eternal rest.
Responding, Andah appreciated the ECDA, president for identifying with them at their trial moment.
He said that their mother lived a fulfilled life, while praying God to forgive her shortcomings and grant mama eternal rest.
