Bayern Munich player, Dayot Upamecano, has revealed his team needs ‘maximum concentration’ to stop Paris Saint-Germain forward, Lionel Messi, when both teams clash in tonight’s UEFA Champions League last-16 first-leg tie in Paris.
According to Upamecano, mental strength will also play a role in determining which team between PSG and Bayern Munich will progress to the next stage, adding that the Bundesliga champions must defend as a group against the Parisians.
Speaking ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League clash, Upamecano also lauded Messi as an exceptional player.
He told the club’s official website: “Messi is an absolutely exceptional player – whether he is playing for Argentina or Paris. And we should not just be ready for him: PSG are a world-class team with quick attacking players.
“We will prepare thoroughly and even in training, we need maximum concentration because mental strength will also play a role in who progresses. We must defend as a group and always have the right answers to hand.”
