ECOWAS Youths Ambassador, Austin Peacemaker nominated for prestigious United Nations SDGs Ambassador of Peace Award

ECOWAS, Youths Ambassador, Austin Peacemaker has added another feather to his cap by clinching the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Ambassador of Peace award.

His nomination was announced on his social media page on Thursday. 

According to the organisers, his nomination came because of his quest to promote peace, human capital development especially among the  youths in Nigeria and around West African countries.

Peacemaker was chosen for the SDGs Ambassador of Peace award because of his successful strides in advancing the social, economic and political developments of Nigerians and ECOWAS Youths.

The ECOWAS Ambassador on his Facebook page in his humility said:

“I am highly honoured and humbled with this. I will dedicate this award to all the gallant men of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) who genuinely have this country at heart and are doing all they can to ensure our peace and security as a Nation despite all the political challenges in the country”.

“Thanks to the one who nominated me and all those helping me to grow. God bless you all”.

ABOUT AUSTIN PEACEMAKER

Amb. Austin Peacemaker is an ECOWAS Youth Ambassador, member of African Union (AU) ECOSOCC Cluster Committee on Peace and Security Affairs, Member of Rotary Club International, winner of the Nelson Mandela Leadership Award of Peace Building, winner of the Security and Emergency Management Award (SAEMA 2020), and Africa’s Change Agent Award among other several awards and honours. 

Peacemaker had his first degree in Linguistics from the university of Abuja, after then his Master’s Degree in Conflict, Security and Development at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) department of History and War Studies.

He is also an alumnus of the prestigious African Centre for Leadership, Strategy and Development Abuja, African Centre of International Criminal justice at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) and the Chartered Institute of Disaster and Safety Managers State of Delaware United States of America among others.

He is the CEO of Security Affairs & TVS Ltd, an organisation that has been in partnership with the Nigerian Army since 2018 till date. 

The young Ambassador works as a civil-military relations consultant for the Nigerian Army Department of Civil-military Affairs, where he has touched many lives, made positive contributions to Nigerian national security by successfully creating platforms for military-civil engagement with social media influencers and key state actors across various states in Nigeria, with several tours to the Northeast to interact with frontline soldiers and also visit IDPs with humanitarian assistance. 

It is worthy to note that this initiative has successfully helped address human rights abuses and brutality, curb fake news, hate speech and malicious reportage. 

Most importantly changed negative narrative and perception from both the military angle as well as the civilian angle. 

The young man has successfully engaged over 5000 influencers and key stakeholders across 21 states of the Federation in partnership with the Nigerian Army. 

He believes that the war against insecurity is beyond tanks and guns; thus he has continued to promote global peace and security.
