You proved me wrong – Paul Merson names Arsenal player of the season

Arsenal legend, Merson has named Aaron Ramsdale as the club’s player of the season.

He also said that the England international has proved him wrong and made him eat his words.

Ramsdale joined the Gunners in a £25million transfer last summer from relegated Sheffield United.

He conceded a whopping 125 goals in the process and some, including Merson, were sceptical that the 24-year-old would be an improvement on then Arsenal No.1 Bernd Leno.

Last season, the goalkeeper ended up keeping 12 clean sheets in 31 games as Arsenal came agonisingly close to finishing top four.

“Aaron Ramsdale has been exceptional,” Merson told Sportskeeda, as he selected the best player from each of the top six Premier League clubs.

“He’s had a couple of shaky performances, but he’s exceeded expectations and has been outstanding in most of the games he’s played.

“[Mikel] Arteta got it right here, and Ramsdale’s made me eat my words.”
