The Osun State Police Command has advised owners of unregistered motor vehicles to comply with the provisions of the Road Traffic Acts and register their vehicles.
The Command, while issuing the advisory, also warned that it would embark on an operation to impound unregistered vehicles plying routes in the State to ensure struct compliance.
This advisory by Yemisi Opalola, the Osun Police Command spokesperson, in a statement on Thursday, also called for a strict adherence to all provisions of Road Traffic Act and other relevant laws as anyone found contravening any section of the law would be made to face the full wrath of the law.
According to Opalola, the Command is acting based on observations at the rate which some vehicle owners drove their vehicles about without registered number plates or covering their number plates and use of unregistered customized numbers on their vehicles.
According to the statement, “The Osun State Police Command has observed with dismay the rate at which some vehicle owners, especially motor dealers and other individuals drive their vehicles about without registered number plates or covering their number plates and use of unregistered customized numbers on their vehicles.
“It is pertinent to inform members of the public that such acts are illegal as they are clearly in contravention of the Section 4 of Road Traffic Act and Regulations.
“Members of the public are, therefore, warned to ensure strict adherence to all provisions of Road Traffic Act and other relevant laws as anyone found contravening any section of the law would be made to face the full wrath of the law.”
Newsmen observed that motorists, especially motor dealers in Osogbo, have constantly been moving with unregistered vehicles.
