Umahi’s emergence as works minister welcome development for S’East

A member of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly representing Abakaliki North constituency, Mr Victor Nwoke has said the appointment of the former governor of the State, David Umahi by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a welcome development for the Sout-East region.

Nwoke, a Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, lawmaker, made this known while speaking with journalists shortly after in a meeting with his constituents.

He urged Umahi to fix all the deplorable Nigerian roads, especially in the South-East geopolitical zone.

Nwoke blamed the high level of road crashes in Nigeria on the failure of previous administrations to fix all the deplorable roads.

“The appointment of the former governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a welcome development and will bring great benefits to the state, South-East region and Nigeria at large.

“He (Umahi) should use the experience gained while constructing Ebonyi roads to properly fix all the deplorable Nigerian roads.

“He should look into the road that leads from Ebonyi through Benue State to Abuja. The road that leads from Ebonyi to Cross River should be constructed,” he said.

The lawmaker also called on the minister-designate to complete the second Niger Bridge.

He added that, “The road that leads from Enugu State to Abuja, which is now impassable as well as the East-West road, should also be given attention.”
