Terrorists invade estate in Nigerian capital city, kidnap residents

Bandits terrorizing the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, have kidnapped at least 10 persons in Dutse, Bwari Area Council.

Newsmen learnt that the incident occurred at about 7:30 pm on Sunday night when the terrorists invaded the Sagwari Layout Estate in Dutse.

It was gathered that the gunmen, dressed like Fulani herdsmen, abducted eight residents of the estate and proceeded to a nearby hotel where two other persons were also whisked away.

Eyewitnesses told Vanguard that efforts by some security operatives to foil the attack proved abortive, as the assailants had superior firepower and were firing from vantage positions atop the hills.

The FCT Police Command is yet to react to the new development as the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, could not be reached for comments.

However, the Command at the weekend assured residents of Abuja particularly those living in Ushafa, Bwari and environs, of their safety following incessant attacks in the areas.

Ushafa is just about five minutes from the estate in Dutse where the latest attacks were carried out.

FCT Police Commissioner, CP Haruna Garba had last Wednesday visited areas in Bwari following reports of abductions, to review the security situation of the area.
