Tension in Delta polytechnic over killing of undergraduate by landlord

Tension is building in Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, after a landlord, Mr Ajari Ajaska Felix, allegedly shot dead an undergraduate.

It was gathered that students of the institution are unhappy that, one week after the incident, the police is yet to arrest the suspect, who is said to have disappeared with his family members.

The victim, Ishie Abraham, was a final year student of the Department of Computer Science.

Delta Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe, who confirmed the development, claimed that intense investigation is ongoing over the matter.

Meanwhile, the Student Union Government (SUG) of the polytechnic has called for calm over the matter.

A statement signed by the SUG leaders of the polytechnic, Comr. Jagboro Champion, President and Comr. Oweiotu-Ebi Oyinkare- Ebi Joseph, Secretary General, called on the student community and the general public to be patient.

While condemning the killing, the SUG and the management of the institution said they are currently working with security agencies to tackle the issue.

“Measures have been put in place to make sure that the culprit do not go unpunished as he has been declared wanted. We enjoin all students to stay calm as the situation is currently under control,” the SUG stated.
