Super Eagles midfielder out of action until 2024

Nigeria midfielder, Okechukwu Azubuike will spend a lengthy time on the sidelines as a result of injury.

His Turkish club, Caykur Rizespor announced on their official website that the former U-23 Eagles captain has sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

The 26-year-old underwent a successful surgery on Wednesday and is now expected to spend six to nine months on the sidelines.

“We convey our best wishes to our football player and hope that he will return to the field stronger than before,” reads a statement on the club’s official website.

Azubuike joined Rizespor in January from another Turkish side, Istanbul Basaksehir.

The combative midfielder won the Turkish Lig title with Istanbul Basaksehir in 2020.

He has also played for Turkish clubs, Sivasspor and Yeni Malatyaspor.
