Sierra Leone vs Nigeria: They’re condemned to win – Ike Shorunmu gives verdict on 2023 AFCONQ

Former Nigerian goalkeeper, Ike Shorunmu, has given his verdict on the Super Eagles’ upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, qualifier against Sierra Leone at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex on Sunday.

Shorunmu insisted that the Super Eagles are condemned to win against Sierra Leone regardless of the margin because Guinea-Bissau must not top Group A ahead of Nigeria.

Guinea-Bissau currently tops Group A with a point ahead of Nigeria after beating Sao Tome on Wednesday.

A win against Sierra Leone means Nigeria will book their place in Ivory Coast 2023.

However, speaking with Completesports, Shorunmu said, “The reality is that Guinea-Bissau’s win over Sao Tome has put the Super Eagles in a situation where they have to beat Sierra Leone to regain the top of the group.

“Nigeria is condemned to win regardless of the margin because Guinea-Bissau must not top the group ahead of Nigeria.”

The kick-off time for the match is 5 pm.
