Rotary clubs offers free medical service to 606 persons in two kogi communities

No fewer than 606 people in two communities in Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State, has benefitted from the free medical outreach organised by Rotary International.

The outreach was held recently by the Rotary clubs of Lokoja and Lokoja Metro at Adankolo Riverside housing estate and Gadumo Local Government Education Authority Primary school Lokoja respectively.

The outreach Which is the Rotary Action Group for Family Health and AIDS Prevention with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is in collaboration with Rotary Clubs and Districts in Nigeria.

The free nationwide health services, tagged “Rotary Family Health Days (RFHDs)”, is a quarterly 3-days outreach that provides basic health care to various communities.

Speaking on the outreach, the Kogi State Cordinator RFHDs, Grace Ben Kato, said the programme is one of the projects for the 2023/2024 Rotary year. Adding that cubs in Lokoja also received support from the Center for Integrated Health Programs (CIHP) in Lokoja

According to her, RFHDs works in 10 countries across Africa and India to provide free quality health resources to underprivileged people who are in need.

Services provided are: Malaria screening and treatment, HIV testing and counselling, Hepatitis B screening, Diabetes and glucose screening and Hypertension screening.

Others are: Vitamin A, B, multivitamin administration, Deworming of children, distribution of treatment mosquito nets, sanitary pads, male and female condoms and eye care.
