President Tinubu Honours Late Chief of Army Staff at Burial Ground

President Bola Tinubu has conferred the prestigious Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR) award on the late Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja.

The honour was bestowed during Lagbaja’s interment ceremony at the National Cemetery in Abuja.

Lagbaja served as Chief of Army Staff for only one year and four months. The tenure was marked by his instrumental role in various internal security operations, including Operation ZAKI in Benue State, Lafiya Dole in Borno, Operation Udoka in Southeast Nigeria, and Operation Forest Sanity across Kaduna and Niger States.

President Tinubu, who appointed Lagbaja to the position in June 2023, described the appointment as one of his finest decisions.

Other dignitaries who attended the event include Vice President Kashima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Defence Minister, governors, and top military officials.

Lagbaja, born on February 28, 1968, passed away in Lagos after a period of illness, as announced by President Tinubu last week.
