The Police in Kano State said it rescue forty-five kidnapped victims and twenty-five human trafficking victims.

State Commissioner of Police, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko stated this during an interaction with community policing stakeholders and police officers in preparation for his retirement held at police officers’ mess, Bompai, kano.

According to him “it’s exactly seventeen (17) months, six (6) days after I assumed duty as the 42nd Commissioner of Police of Kano State Command on the 19th February, 2021”

“By the grace of Almighty Allah (SWT), I will retire from the service of the Nigeria Police Force on the 27th July, 2022, after attaining the age of Sixty (60) years.”

He commended the officers and men of Kano State Police Command for their hard work, commitment, dedication and their dogged efforts in fighting crime.

He explained that during the period, the police succeeded in the rescue of one hundred and sixty (160) victims of illegal confinement, forty-five (45) kidnapped victims, twenty-five (25) human trafficking victims and two (2) victims of solitary confinement.

He added that two (2) Boko Haram suspects and three hundred, thirty-eight (338) armed robbery suspects and one hundred seventy-two (172) kidnapping suspects were also arrested and others.

He noted that part of the major challenge in the course of policing Kano State is granting bail to criminals after they were charged to court.

“We have arrested many suspects for felonious offences like armed robbery and motor vehicle theft, but in no distant time, we used to arrest them for similar offences after charging them to court,” he said.

He, therefore, called on those concerned to do the needful in ensuring proper punishment for offenders.

He commended the Kano state Government, traditional rulers and the good people of Kano for their cooperation.
