Police in Sokoto arrests man with 101 PVCs

One Nasiru Idris of Sabon Birni local government area of Sokoto State has been apprehended by the Sokoto State Police Command for being in possession of 101 permanent voter cards (PVCs).

Hussain Gumel, the Commissioner of Police, while briefing newsmen explained that following credible information, the suspect was arrested on 10th October 2022 in Sabon Birni.

The Commissioner of Police said the suspect could not explain how he came about the 101 PVCs.

He added, “It is envisaged that owners of these cards are not only from Sabon Birni local government but could be from other parts of the state because we could not trace the rightful owners of the PVCs.”

The Commissioner of Police enjoined the general public, especially those whose cards were either missing or misplaced to come to the command’s headquarters and check for identification.

He assured that all the unclaimed PVCs would be returned to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after one month by the police.
