He’ll help us – Todd Boehly reacts as Joe Shields joins Chelsea

Chelsea Chairman, Todd Boehly, has said Joe Shields will help the west London club continue to build a world-class football organisation.

Boehly said this while reacting to Shields’ appointment as Co-Director of Recruitment and Talent.

The American billionaire described Shields as a strong leader and a team player.

Recall that Chelsea had earlier on Wednesday announced that Shields had joined the Blues.

Shields joined Chelsea from Southampton, where he is Head of Senior Recruitment.

He will start his new role at Chelsea when his obligations with Southampton are complete.

Reacting, Boehly and co-controlling owner Behdad Eghbali said via the club’s website: “Joe is another great addition to Chelsea, and we are thrilled to have him on board.

“We have a clear plan and will adopt a modern and data-driven philosophy, focused on elite emerging talent. We are assembling a deep and collaborative management team who are eager to build a continued sustained winner at Chelsea.

“Joe has a great track record and understanding of the game and emerging talent. We know we have another strong leader and a team player who will help us continue to build our world-class football organisation.”
