Police arrest one over attack on Adamawa First Lady’s convoy

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested one Lot Bitrus in connection with a recent attack on the convoy of the wife of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, Hajiya Lami Fintiri.

A Press Bus in the convoy of Hajiya Lami was badly damaged last Saturday when thugs hauled stones at it in Muchalla, a village in Mubi North Local Government Area, an action which was widely condemned as a political misadventure by opposing forces.

A Press Release by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Suleiman Nguroje, said the arrest of 24-year-old Lot Bitrus followed deployment of operatives of the Command to go against political gangsterism and their instigators.

The PPRO said the State Commissioner of Police, CP Sikiru Akande had directed that the suspect be investigated discreetly for useful evidence.

“The suspect, Lot Bitrus, 24 years old, a resident of Muchalla ward was arrested in his hideout situated at a remote site of Muchalla Village, Mubi North Local Government Area, now in custody,” the Police stated.

According to the statement, CP Akande called on political leaders to talk to their supporters to shun all forms of violence and key into the Command’s effort in maintaining peace.
