Peter Obi on Presidential Election: I won Rivers

The candidate of the Labour Party in the just concluded presidential election, Peter Obi has claimed that he won the election in Rivers State.

Peter Obi who spoke while featuring on Arise TV on Monday claimed that the Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike worked against him during the election.

According to the former Anambra governor, the Labour Party got over 50 per cent of the total votes cast in the state.

He dismissed the insinuation that only Igbos voted for him, asking: “Are the Igbo in Nasarawa, are the Igbo in Plateau, are the Igbo in Abuja?”

He said: “In Rivers, where you know that the governor came out against me and everything; if the real votes of Rivers were counted, I won. I had over 50 something per cent of the vote. The other two parties were sharing the others.”

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had declared the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, winner of the election in Rivers after polling 231,591 votes to defeat its closest opponent, the Labour Party, which scored 175,071.
