PDP stages protest as APC clears 16 LGAs in Kwara

Members of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kwara State have begun a protest following the clinching of 16 Local Government Areas in Kwara State by the All Progressives Congress party.

The protest by the party members comes after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced APC as the winner across the 16 LG councils in the state.

The Chairman of the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission, Mohammed Baba-Okanla while making the announcement in a statement on Sunday, September 22, said the APC won the chairmanship and councillorship positions in the 193 wards across Kwara.

In the defence of the party, the PDP members of stormed the streets with various placards protesting the development.

Marching to the KWASIEC office in the Fate area of Ilorin, the party member of re appreciated the people of the state for their support.

They, however, accused KWASIEC of being partial in the conduct of the LG polls.

Speaking on behalf of the party members, a former commissioner in the state, Saratu Adebayo alleged that KWASIEC falsified results in favour of the APC.

She said, “The PDP won the chairmanship election in the 16 local government areas of the state, but the seats were falsely awarded to APC by KWASIEC.”
