Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has shed light on his plans for succession in 2027, stating that he will have a say in determining his replacement.
However, he acknowledged that the ultimate decision rests with the people of Oyo State.
Makinde made these remarks while receiving the report of the Committee on Review and Update of Public Service Rules and Other Regulations in the State Civil/Public Service. The ceremony took place at the Executive Chamber of the Governor’s Office in Ibadan.
Regarding the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) structure in Oyo State, Makinde confidently asserted his control.
He said members of the ruling party will have to contend with him when making decisions about his successor.
This statement comes after the PDP’s sweeping victory in the recent local government council elections, where the party won all 33 chairmanship seats in April.
