Ondo LP Ticket Secured by Unionist Olorunfemi in 2024

A Unionist, Dr Ayodele Festus Olorunfemi, has emerged the governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in Ondo State.

Olorunfemi, was returned unopposed during the governorship primary election held at the party’s Secretariat in Akure, the Ondo state capital weekend.

The party’s flagbearear was the former General Secretary of the Senior Staff Association of Statutory Corporations and Government Owned Companies (SSASCGOC), an affiliate of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC).

The Chairman of the Labour Party Primary Committee, who is the party’s deputy chairman in Oyo state, Hon Olusola Ayodele, said out of three aspirants, only Olorunfemi, obtained the party’s nomination form of N25m while the other two aspirants failed to pay for the form.

Ayodele, said, “on behalf of the National Chairman and the entire NWC, I bring to you solidarity from Labour Party.


” Our job here has been made simple through the report of the screening committee which sat yesterday to review the documents presented by aspirants, I will like to circulate the report having presented with this report.

“We have no other option than to pronounce the sole aspirants Dr. Ayo Olorunfemi having fulfil the condition in line with the guidelines as elected and retune unopposed.

“The disqualified aspirants (Otunba Yemi Farimoyo and Prince Ojajuni Eniola) however still have the option to send their grievances if any, to the appeal committee. I hereby congratulate you all for a successful primary and which you all journey mercy to your destination,”

In his acceptance speech, the party’s Candidate, Dr Olorunfemi, said he would embark on welfarist programmes if elected the governor of Ondo state.

Olorunfemi said, “the Labour Party being a socialist oriented political party will focus on governance that reflects people, people and people .We are people centric.

“Therefore we are going to be working assiduously on a 4point agenda in the health, education, employment creation and massive infrastructural development using local resources particularly direct labour system so as to ensure prudent utilization of fund and ensure even distribution of resources especially among the poorest of the poor while making sure that the middle class is appropriately populated.
