Ogunleye launches campaign, promises not to fail electorate

Mr Gbolahan Ogunleye, an All Progressives Congress (APC) Candidate for Ikorodu Constituency 1, on Tuesday promised not to dash the hope and trust of the electorate if elected.

He gave the assurance at the launching of his campaign at Ita-Elewa, in Ikorodu, Lagos State.

Ogunleye, son of Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, a former deputy governor, is contesting for Ikorodu Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

He expressed his determination to carry every stakeholder along and ensure an all-inclusive representation.

“I will ensure I deliver on all my campaign promises so that my constituents will enjoy more dividends of democracy, if elected.

“I will work in conjunction with other lawmakers and support the transformation agenda of the governor if given the mandate,” the state assembly candidate said.

Also speaking, Mr Sanai Agunbiade, the Lagos State House of Assembly’s Majority Leader said he had accepted the plea from leadership of the party to support Ogunleye.

Agunbiade, outgoing lawmaker representing the constituency, acknowledged that the party’s decision was supreme.

He urged his supporters not to break the bond between him and Ogunleye, saying both of them belong to the same clan of Lasunwon family.

“The party owns the mandate, the party owns the ticket. If you are still in the party, whatever decision the party makes, you have to admit it.

“If there is grievance, we will talk about it within the party.

“Myself and Gbolahan are members of Lasuwon royal family. It is only a bastard that won’t get upset when hurt. However, I have accepted the plea, and I have moved on,” Agunbiade, a fourth term lawmaker said.

He urged his supporters to go out en masse and vote for APC from the top to the bottom. for the party’s victory at all levels.

“We are going to work collectively to ensure victory,” the majority leader said.

In his remarks, Sen.Tokunbo Abiru, representing Lagos East in the Senate, said that the inspiring scorecard of Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu was enough for people to vote for APC.

He urged all the candidates in the senatorial districts to be diligent and hardworking.

Commending Sanwo-Olu, the senator said: “When some states are still struggling, he (the governor) has never relented. We are all living witnesses to the rice mill that was inaugurated.

“The governor has performed and he surely deserves a second term.

“Lagos State has the highest number of registered voters. This is the time to show that we have massive electorate in Lagos.

“We must know where we are coming from, so as to be focused on where we are going to. We must not have less than 300,000 votes in Ikorodu,” Abiru said.

Rep. Babajimi Benson, the lawmaker, representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency, urged the electorate to go out and vote overwhelmingly for APC’s Presidential Candidate, Sen. Bola Tinubu and other APC candidates.
