BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has warned the government that elections will not be allowed until the non-partisan caretaker government is reinstated.
He said, ‘People could not vote in 2014 and 2018. In the last two elections, they came to power by deceiving people, telling lies, misrepresenting the election; But this time we have turned around, people have turned around. Election games will not be allowed to play this time. I will stop it.
Mirza Fakhrul said, ‘Our backs are against the wall as we are beaten. Now is not the time to go back, move forward. People stand still. We have one point, one demand – Sheikh Hasina has to resign.
He said these things while addressing the chief guest at the public meeting at Komarpur Abdul Aziz Institution ground on the outskirts of Faridpur city as part of the departmental public meeting on Saturday.
The BNP is holding a departmental mass meeting to protest against the non-party government’s demands, the increase in the prices of essential commodities including fuel oil and the death of five workers in the ongoing agitation. The rally was held at Komarpur Abdul Aziz Institution ground, 6 km away from Faridpur city.
He said,’There was no question about the caretaker government. Four to five elections have been conducted in this manner. Then they canceled that system and destroyed the constitution. In 1975, all parties banned and established Bakshal.
Mirza Fakhrul said, “The wealth of the country has been looted. Government people have smuggled 10 lakh crores of rupees. Stealing mega projects, unemployment allowance, distress allowance. No more money now. Swallowing the reserve money. There is no sector that has not stolen. Corruption and bribery everywhere.
Claiming that 42 percent of the country’s people are living below the poverty line, he said, “The government has not kept any promises.”
He also said, ‘Awami League has agitated for caretaker government with Jamaat. Strike for 173 days. Khaleda Zia resigned after passing the caretaker government in parliament overnight. BNP lost in that election. This is democracy. And Awami League says I will not leave power. I want my golden deer. It will not happen again.’
Commenting that the government has become “separated” from the people, Fakhrul said, “It harasses the opposition and files false cases.” Casino Emperor Bails; But Khaleda Zia does not get bail. Those who looted sat with the Prime Minister at the Jubo League rally.
He said, “The government has taken a new strategy by bringing forward the old words of fire terrorism.” Awami League is the master of arson. In Shahbagh, bus was set on fire with gun powder and people were killed. One-Eleven has killed people with logi-baitha.’
Earlier, the rally was supposed to start at 2 pm, but the program started at 11 am.
