Low level, defended badly – Ancelotti blasts Real Madrid stars after 4-2 defeat to Girona

Real Madrid boss, Carlo Ancelotti has blasted his players after they lost 4-2 against Catalan minnows Girona in Tuesday’s La Liga clash.

Four goals from Valentin Castellanos ensured Girona defeated Real Madrid at Montilivi.

Vinicius and Lucas Vazquez did score for Real Madrid during the encounter.

Reacting, Ancelotti said at his post-match press conference that Real Madrid’s level against Girona was low, adding that his players defended badly and did not play at all against the host.

“Our level was very low. We apologise, the team did not play at all,” Ancelotti said.

“We were bad defensively and that was the key to the defeat. We were anxious and we relied on individual play.

“They [Real Madrid fans] will be hurt and angry as we are.

“But we need to remember we are in a cup final and in a Champions League semi-final,” he said.
