Chelsea boss, Frank Lampard has told the club’s youngsters Chinonso ‘Noni’ Madueke, Carney Chukwuemeka and Mykhailo Mudryk to fight for their places in his squad.
The former England international said both players will get chances to play before the end of the season only ‘if they deserve it’.
Madueke has started just two games for Chelsea in the Premier League since joining in a £29 million deal from PSV in the January transfer window.
For Chukwuemeka, the former Aston Villa player joined the Blues for £20m from last summer but has also struggled to secure a place in the team.
With just seven games remaining for Chelsea this season, Lampard is still searching for his first win since taking over from Graham Potter on April 6.
During his press conference ahead of their game against west London neighbours, on Wednesday, Lampard was asked if January mega-money signing, Mykhailo Mudryk, Madueke and Chukwuemeka will play more games in the remaining games of the season.
The former Chelsea midfielder replied: “If they deserve it, for sure.
“I think there are two things, there is the individual work of showing that you deserve it, I’m fully for that.”
According to Lampard, his players must show that they are ready to play and deserve opportunities by the way they train.
“If you do that you’ll probably get an opportunity with me,” he said.
