Long live new King and Queen – Drogba hails Osimhen, Oshoala’s coronation as Africa’s best

Cote d’Ivoire legend, Didier Drogba has celebrated Victor Osimhen and Asisat Oshoala on their triumph at the CAF Awards 2023.

Osimhen was named CAF Men’s Player of the Year for 2023, while Oshoala claimed the Women’s version.

Napoli striker, Osimhen becomes the first Nigerian to win the award in 24 years.

The duo of Vincent Enyeama and John Mikel Obi all came close to winning it after Nwankwo Kanu won the individual gong in 1999.

Barcelona Femeni star Oshoala won a record-extending sixth women’s award.

Drogba took to the social media to felicitate with the duo and Nigeria.
“Long live the new King and Queen of Africa @victorosimhen9 @asisat_oshoala @caf_onlineCongratulations my Nigerian People, we are waiting for you in January @afcon_2023,” the former Chelsea star wrote on his X handle.
