Nigel James, the father of Chelsea Women’s star Lauren James, has revealed that the forward trained with the boys’ team during her youth career.
Nigel, a UEFA-licenced football coach, disclosed this while appearing as a guest on the latest episode of The Beautiful Game podcast.
Nigel said: “She [Lauren James] trained with the Arsenal Academy boys. When she was 14, she trained with the boys who were 14. And it was a big thing because this has never happened before. A girl going to train with the boys.”
