Be fair – Gov Kefas tells reconciliation committee

Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has charged the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Special Committee on Reconciliation to be fair and democratic in its recommendations.

The committee, made up of 14 members, was assigned the responsibility of resolving the ongoing leadership tussle in the party.

Inaugurating the committee members on Monday at the Executive Chamber of the Government House in Jalingo, the state capital, Kefas said the purpose of the committee is to look into the leadership crisis in the party with a view to putting the cold war to rest.

The committee, which has two weeks to submit its report and recommendations, has the power to review documents, assemble evidence, and conduct interviews before making any form of recommendation.

The ongoing friction between the former chairman of the party, Alhaji Inuwa Bakari, and the incumbent chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Bawa, DAILY POST observed, was one of the reasons for the formation of the committee.

Bakari, who was then the party’s acting chairman, was replaced by Bawa by the immediate past governor, Darius Dickson Ishaku, immediately after the 2023 general elections, an action that continued to raise dust in the party.
