KONGONET empathizes with the people, government of Kogi state over the fire outbreak at the state Assembly

…calls for absolute transparency while investigation lasted;

The apex umbrella body of all NGOs network in kogi state, Kogi NGOs Network, (KONGONET), has said that the unfortunately incident of fire outbreak at the kogi state House of Assembly is not only sad but a very painful setback for the state.

In a statement jointly signed by Ambassador Idris Ozovehe Muraina and Adejoh Success, Chairperson and Public Relations Officer (PRO), of KONGONET respectively, the group empathized with honourable members, Kogi State Government and Kogi people at large.

The duo however said, it is worrisome and embarrassing to know that there were no sophisticated fire fighting equipment in the state to put off the fire that lasted for hours.

Kongonet therefore urged all relevant authorities to as a matter of urgency, carry out a transparent investigation into the cause of the fire outbreak.

The statement reads in parts, “In the early hours of Monday 10th of October, 2022, Kogites woke up to the sad news of a fire outbreak that razed down the chamber and gallary of Kogi State House of Assembly Complex.

The civil society organization leadership in the state therefore, urged the relevant authorities to as a matter of urgency carry out a transparent investigation into the cause of the fire outbreak which consumed state’s property worth millions of Naira and ensure that perpetrators are brought to book.
