Super Eagles defender, Kenneth Omeruo has revealed that Jose Peseiro’s men would beat the host nation Ivory Coast at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, if they stay focused during the encounter.
Nigeria will clash with Ivory Coast in their second Group A tie on Thursday evening.
The Super Eagles head to the game after playing a 1-1 draw with Equatorial Guinea in their first game of the tournament.
Ivory Coast, meanwhile, defeated Guinea Bissau 2-0 in their first game.
“Nigerians should expect us to try to give our best and win the game,” Omeruo was quoted by Sports Brief as saying.
“Obviously, they are playing at home as the host [nation]. I think we are better than them, and I think we can win that game, but we have to go out there, stay focused and try to win.”
