The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Cross River State, Senator (Prince) Bassey Otu, has said that his major focus will be job creation to better the lives of the people if given the opportunity to govern the state from May 29, 2023.
Otu stated this when he arrived Bekwarra Local Government Area (LGA) together with other members of the Cross River APC campaign team led by the incumbent governor, Prof. Ben Ayade, to canvass for the votes of the people in the forthcoming elections.
Addressing the mammoth crowd in Abuochiche, the LGA headquarters, the APC guber flag bearer said he returned to Bekwarra to show them his work plan based on the discussion he had with them in his earlier visit.
“We will give jobs to our own young men and women. For the first time, Cross River will begin to give jobs to our indigenous contractors. The last time we came here to say thank you, you told me that your problem was light, the incoming administration is going to engage professionals that will look into that. I have already contracted one of your sons and he is already having meetings to put things in place.
“My promise to you is that we are going to scale up the industrial revolution. The policy thrust of the incoming administration is to eliminate all waste, support all factors of production and all the agencies and institutions that support production. You know some people in this campaign will come and tell you what they cannot do. I will never lie and I will never deceive you,” he vowed.
The erstwhile Senator representing Cross River South and ex-member of House of Reps, noted that “This is not going to be an ordinary election, it will be an election that will send a message across. We will certainly win, but we need to win with a very wide margin so that next time, people will learn to wait for their turn and not jump into the queue when it is not their turn.”
He assured the people that he will put necessary machinery in motion to consolidate on the laudable achievements of Ayade, while promising to embark on an overall transformation of the state to better the lives of the entire Cross Riverians.
Also speaking, Governor Ayade appreciated the people for coming out in large numbers to receive the campaign team and waiting for several hours.
“I cannot come here to Bekwarra and campaign. I am also a son here. My grandparents are from here so I know you will give me your full support,” Ayade said.
Earlier, state chairman of the party, Barr. Alphonsus Eba asked the people to ignore the antics of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and remain steadfast in their support for the APC.
The APC campaigns have continued to receive massive support across all the LGAs in the Northern Senatorial District of Cross River State.
