Hydro-Electric Power Producing Areas Development Commission, (HYPPADEC), an establishment aimed at improving access to social services, enhancing sustainable agricultural productivity, accelerating economic growth and social values has lauded Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja management over achievements while seeking mutual collaborations and support.

Head, Public Relations and Protocol Unit of the Polytechnic, the State Coordinator, Engineer (Mrs) Joan Ojonugwa Oguche, made the disclosure while X-raying the activities of the Commission vis-a-vis the intervention on Tuesday, 24th January, 2023 at the Council Hall, Main Campus, Lokoja.
Engr. Oguche congratulated and appreciated the Rector, Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Dr. Salisu Ogbo Usman on the attainment of golden jubilee and by extension, on his recording unprecedented imprints in the anal of the institution with reforms and beautiful edifice to mark academic excellence.
She reiterated the Commission’s objectives towards harnessing both human and material resources of her catchment areas and would be willing to collaborate with the Institution in the areas of skills acquisition as part of the Commission’s goals.
Engr. Oguche reeled out the Commission’s provisions with the Institution which included Solar Power Light, Drilling of Borehole and school support programmes which the Institution has benefited from.
According to the State Coordinator, HYPPADEC is domiciled in 6 (six) states, 163 communities and the ten (10) local government areas of Kogi State which include Lokoja, Kogi/Koto, Ajaokuta, Bassa, Ibaji, Idah, Igalamela/Odolu, Ofu, Omala, and Adavi Local government areas of the state.
Reacting, the Rector, Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja Dr. Salisu Ogbo Usman expressed appreciation to the State Coordinator and her delegation for identifying with the Polytechnic. He also extended unreserved appreciation to the Federal Government, the National Assembly, Agencies and State government in the areas of passing the Bill, assenting to the Bill and supporting the funding of the Commission, adding that the birth of HYPPADEC strengthened equity and even development of the societies. He, however, commended Alhaji Isah Ozi Salami, HYPPADEC – North Central Commissioner for his unrelenting dedication and commitments to ensuring that Kogi State is mapped out.
Dr. Usman thanked the Commission for providing for the Institution Solar Power Light, Borehole and school support programme which had in no small way helped in addressing the issue of the porous security and social services overtime.
“Education is an investment and any support to the sector is well appreciated. It is a thing of joy to all of us in the state and particularly, in Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja for being considered as beneficiaries. The current Management is very much frank In ensuring quality assurance at all levels of the Polytechnic,” he added.
The Rector used the occasion to solicit support and intervention in the area of internal road network and provision of sport facilities which he described as both crucial and capital expensive.
The Area officer, Mr. Michael Omeiza Ajayi in his remarks appreciated the Polytechnic management for its tireless efforts at setting standard. He also reiterated that the commission stood in collaborating with the Institution through youth transformation programmes while also considering her request, describing the support programme as a far-reaching compensation to the learning community because HYPPADEC in its entirety is all encompassing.
The Registrar, Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Mr. Sunday Aiyeetan in his closing remarks, appreciated the State Coordinator for identifying with the Polytechnic and prayed for continuous collaborations and interventions.
The meeting had in attendance the principal officers of the Polytechnic, members and staff of the Hydro- Electric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC) Kogi State amongst others.
