I won’t take bribe, even if it’s a billion naira –INEC Commissioner assures Nigerians

The National Commissioner in charge of Edo for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has assured Nigerians that she would not be swayed by any kind of bribe.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Professor Rhoda Gumus said she will not collect bribes during the Edo State governorship election taking place on Saturday, September 21.

She also warned politicians and stakeholders in the ongoing election not to approach her with bribes as she already has a reputation which she has built for herself.

Her words, “I am in charge of Edo. I want to do the right thing, even though I will not be everywhere.

“We will conduct this election in a free, fair and credible manner. I cannot take bribes no matter how much. I don’t have to take billions to do what is right.”

Also boasting that nobody would try to bribe her because people are aware of her principles and integrity, Gumus said she will not allow anyone to interfere with the elections in Edoz

“Nowhere, nobody will try. Nobody will try me. You know in any office you are in this country they know everything about you.

“And when they know they will not come near. If I see it, I will not allow it,” Gumus added.
