The Centre for Fiscal Transparency and Integrity Watch, CeFTIW, has suggested ways to tackle corruption in government and ensure Nigeria becomes a great country.
Umar Yakubu, the Executive Director of CeFTIW, said transparency and good governance are the keys to tackling corruption in the public sector and becoming a better country.
Speaking during the body’s workshop on Friday in Abuja, Yakubu said corruption would be expunged from the government when information about the activities of Ministries, Department, and Agencies, MDAs, are made public.
Yakubu said Nigeria would become a better country and practice a better democracy when MDAs are transparent.
According to Yakubu: “Our meeting today is to see how to introduce new measures of preventing corruption and improve governance in Nigeria. A lot has been done on the reactive side, so we want to see what we can do on the preventive side, which is by making MDAs be more responsible in publishing information that is supposed to be out there to the public.
“We want to improve the transparency where all MDAs from federal, state and local governments will be publishing information that has to do with procurements, auditing, human resources, and all other information that has to do with good governance.
