He’s someone I really like – Vidic names Chelsea’s target as best defender

Former Manchester United star, Nemanja Vidic has named Chelsea’s target, Josko Gvardiol as his favourite current defender to watch in the game.

The youngster is widely seen as one of the best defenders in world football, with a string of excellent displays for Croatia at the last World Cup.

Owners of Chelsea made a huge bid of £77million for the player during the summer and the bid was rejected by Leipzig in the final days of the window.

Vidic, a legend at Old Trafford, said he really likes Gvardiol, likening him to current United star, Lisandro Martinez for ‘liking to defend’.

Speaking with former teammate, Rio Ferdinand on Vibe with Five, Vidic said, “I always loved young defenders.

“So Gvardiol is someone I really like.”
