Gunmen murder village leader and torch home in Kaduna neighborhood

Suspected assassins have killed the 30-year-old village head of Marke, Malam Kabiru Mohammed, in Dandamisa Ward, Makarfi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Malam Kabiru Mohammed who was turbaned as the village head of Marke in 2018, having sensed the arrival of Gunmen in his domain around 12.30am, on Thursday, ran and hid inside the ceiling of his roof.

But, the Gunmen, on arrival, sent out everyone in the compound, as they continued to search for their targets, the village head who hid inside the ceiling alongside his elder brother, Tukur Mohammed.

According to a member of the community who pleaded anonymity, the victim was later discovered by the gunmen who slaughtered him and set the house ablaze.

Reacting to the incident, the councilor of Dandamisa Ward, Aminu Sani Marke, said the body of the late village head could not be recovered as the house was burnt down.

“The gunmen spent about one hour operating in the village and went away with valuables worth millions of naira.” he said

The Police Public Relations Officer, Kaduna State Police Command did not pick his calls, and did not respond to his text message.
