Gunmen ambush Delta lawmaker’s wife, kill police escorts, driver

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers ambushed and killed two mobile policemen and a driver escorting Mrs. Christy Uroye, wife of Delta State House of Assembly Member, Hon. Augustine Uroye, in Uvwie Local Government Area on Monday evening.

The attack occurred around 7 p.m. along Jakpan Road.

Eyewitnesses reported that the assailants struck swiftly, killing the security personnel and driver on the spot before abducting Mrs. Uroye.

However, their escape plan faltered when their vehicle crashed, allowing Mrs. Uroye to flee.

A disturbing video of the aftermath has surfaced online, showing the lifeless bodies of the policemen and the chaotic scene around Mrs. Uroye’s vehicle.

Police Public Relations Officer SP Bright Edafe confirmed the incident, stating, “The operation was not successful.” He added that Mrs. Uroye is currently receiving medical care at an undisclosed hospital as investigations continue.

Authorities are now probing the incident to uncover the motives behind the attack and apprehend those responsible.
