Responding to the statement credited to the President- elect, Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on how he intends to constitute his cabinet with much premium on competence, youths and women, an NGO, Society for the Youth and the Downthroden, SOYD, has expressed hope that the incoming administration, having identified one of the major problems, will transform Nigeria if the plans were real.
In a press release issued today by the President, SOYD, Comrade Ogwuche Gabriel stated that over the years, Nigeria have been operating the government of “copy and paste” due to non involvement of vibrant young people with mental capacity and competence in the system to drive the business of governance in line with our socio-economic and political reality.
Ogwuche pointed out that as on several occasions, this has caused the nation embarrassment in terms of policy implementations.
Sighting an example, he said that, “the current economic crises in Nigeria, arising from new bank policy have lasted beyond expectation with no solution on sight.
“Therefore; it is important that young individuals that understand the difference between “Doing the Right Thing and Doing Things Right” are brought on board in order to proactively avoid inflicting hardship and suffering on Nigerians in the name of government policies and programs.
“Furthermore, while expressing our confidence in the ability of the President- elect to deliver up to people’s expectations, we wish to state clearly that success is not a product of intention, but hard work and commitment towards what is intended to deliver result despite obstacles.
“We hereby wish to respond to the statement credited to the President-elect, Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu on how he intend to constitute his cabinet with much premium on competence, young people and women.
“Consequently, we are hopeful that the incoming administration, having identified one of the major problems, will transform Nigeria if the plan is real.
In view of this, the group’s President also said, “we support and urge the President- elect to stick to his words against all odds and rescue the country from the present economic mess.”
