The Osun Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has warned against any form of dangerous riding and overspeeding by commercial motorcyclists popularly referred to as ‘Okada’.

The Osun FRSC also warned that desisting from overspeeding could prevent death and severe injuries arising from accidents.

This warning was issued by Paul Okpe, the Osun FRSC Sector Commander on the sideline of the roadshow organised by the command on safety tips for commercial motorcyclists on Friday in Osogbo.

Okpe who charged the commercial motorcyclists to discard intoxicating substances to ensure accidents are averted before, during and after the ember months added that there was a need for safety consciousness on highways.

Okpe disclosed that the command had concluded plans to ensure that commercial motorcyclists obeyed the road traffic regulations especially during and after the ember months.

In his words, ” The command is partnering with the motorcycle company to further help mobilise the entire Okada riders on road and sensitise them.

“The command would not relent in ensuring that the state records zero accident tolerance with a reduction in the accident rate.

“I charge road users to join hands with the command during and after the ember months as safety is a shared responsibility,” he concluded.
