Federal University of Allied Health Sciences, Enugu holds its first Senate meeting

—Rolls out programme for Immediate Take Off

The Federal University of Allied Health Sciences, Enugu recently held its first inaugural Senate meeting, marking the beginning of academic activities for the newly established University. The meeting, chaired by the Ag. Vice Chancellor, Prof. John Emaimo, saw briefs on various crucial matters pertaining to the academic direction of the institution.

At the beginning of the meeting, Prof. Emaimo appreciated the magnanimity of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu whom he described as a leader per excellence, and a true Nigerian.
He emphasized the importance of the Senate in making decisions on academic matters, highlighting the Senate’s self-innovating and self-governing nature. He also announced the submission of 20 programmes to the National University Commission, out of which 17 were approved for verification .

The meeting also saw the approval of appointments for Deans, Heads of Departments, and Directors, as well as the ratification of proposed Faculties and Departments. The Senate was also briefed on the University’s preparations for the verification of programmes by the NUC.

Notable attendees of the Senate meeting included the Ag. Registrar, Barr. Dr. Chris Igbokwe, University Librarian Dr. Ifeanyi Ezeama, Readers, Deans, Directors, and Heads of Department. The meeting aimed to establish the academic direction, review and approval of academic programmes, academic staff activities , and foster collaboration among academic staff and departments.

The inaugural Senate meeting successfully achieved its objectives, setting the pace for a productive and collaborative academic environment in the University. The meeting concluded with a group photograph of the members of the Senate, followed by a celebrations afterward.

The Federal University of Allied Health Sciences, Enugu is on a promising trajectory towards excellence in academia, with the inaugural Senate meeting marking a significant milestone in its academic journey.
