Ex-lawmaker, Hon Bello, hails Gov Uba’s victory at Supreme Court

Former lawmaker at the House of Representatives and erstwhile member of Pan African Parliament (PAP), Hon Ibrahim Bello, has congratulated the Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani on his victory at the Supreme Court Where the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Isah Ashiru, challenging the election of the governor was dismissed.

The apex court validated the verdicts of the tribunal and the appellate court which had earlier upheld Uba’s victory in the March 18, 2023 gubernatorial election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Uba of All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the election after he polled 730,002 votes to defeat his closest challenger Ashiru who garnered 719,196 votes.

Hon Bello, a legal practitioner and grassroots politician currently serving as a Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Chieftaincy Affairs to Governor Uba, described the apex court ruling as a welcome development received with great delight by the entire people of Kaduna State.

He said Kaduna people were pleased with the Supreme Court judgement because the governor was seen to have hit the ground running immediately he assumed office on May 29, 2023, taking various laudable steps to consolidate on the achievements of his predecessor and reposition the state for greater heights.

“I congratulate our amiable, pragmatic, proactive and reliable governor, His Excellency, Senator Sani Uba, on the Supreme Court verdict affirming him as the duly elected Governor of Kaduna State. The judgement came as the final affirmation of the mandate graciously given to him by the people of Kaduna State as the man they trust and believe can meaningfully transform the state and build a Kaduna of their dream. Our people have no doubt in the capacity of the governor to consolidate on the achievements of the immediate administration and initiate projects that will better their lives.

“I am therefore calling on every well-meaning indigene and resident of Kaduna State regardless of their political, religious and tribal affiliations to cooperate and work with the government of Governor Uba to ensure the actualization of the good plans he has to ensure the overall development and total transformation of the state. No doubt, the cooperation of the people will be needed as the governor settles down to now work without distractions to actualize his seven-point agenda of SUSTAIN which include to strengthen Safety and Security, Upgrade Infrastructure, Strengthen Institutions, enhance Trade and Investment,” Hon Bello said.

The SSA chieftaincy affairs expressed confidence that Kaduna citizens will not regret voting in Uba as the captain of the state’s ship, maintaining that he didn’t fail in every opportunity he has had to serve the people, including as the immediate past senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, where he made significant impact on the lives of his constituents.

He said as an ex-parliamentarian and legal pundit occupying the position of an SSA to the governor, he would continue to offer his best and contribute his quota to the success and progress of the Uba Sani administration for the betterment of the state.
