Ashraf Sanusi, son of the deposed Emir of Kano, Mohammad Sanusi II, has berated the Nigerian Police over the arrest of Cynthia Chioma Anthony for allegedly defrauding a German citizen of $220,000 after promising to marry him.
Recall that operatives of the Police Special Fraud Units (PSFU) recently arrested Anthony for allegedly obtaining $220,00 by false pretence from the German.
Reacting via his Instastory, Sanusi wrote: “Technically, she didn’t do anything illegal, right? Since he sent her money willingly not as payment for good or service, she’s not meant to be arrested. What she did is bad, but not illegal.”
Insisting there is not always a law for immorality, he added: “Again, what she did is very wrong, but they [police] are not legally allowed to arrest her because she promised to marry someone and didn’t do it. And they are not allowed to reverse the money as it was given willingly even though the person was expecting something else.”
