Enyimba to get $2.5m for taking part in African Football League

Nigeria Professional Football League champions Enyimba will get $2.5m for participating in the inaugural edition of the African Football League (AFL).

The People’s Elephant are among the eight clubs selected by the Confederation of African Football to take part in the competition.

Finidi George’s side will go home with a whopping $11.5m if they win the competition.

The AFL is a partnership between CAF and FIFA.

Al Ahly, Esperance, Wydad Casablanca TP Mazembe, Mamelodi Sundowns, Simba and Petro Athletico are the other teams that will be participating in the competition.

The draw for the competition will take place in Cairo, Egypt on Saturday.
